The position requires the skills of a dynamic individual who has experience in Short Term Insurance, specifically in a third party and recovery claims handling environment, fully competent in the third-party indemnification process, apportionment of damages and ability to work under pressure and still be able to offer great service to all stakeholders.
Claims Handler is responsible for managing a portfolio of uninsured indemnity claims end to end. The individual will be responsible for ensuring correct settlement in accordance with dilectual principles and motor law. Claims Handler will also be responsible for managing all key business relationships. Competencies and or skills required

Process new third-party claims received from technical assistance/front office, immediately when received
Analyse and validate a third party claim to determine cover within 24 hours, i.e. obtain necessary documentation from clients (claim forms; description & sketch plan, accident, witness statements, photos of the incident scene, video footage and other SAPS reports, etc)
Liaise with brokers and clients on ensuring that they are kept updated regarding the progress of the third-party claims
Appoint Assessors/Investigators, as required
Manage external investigators/assessor to achieve optimal results where necessary
Ensure that all relevant reports are received within reasonable and specified timeframes
Accurate claim cost management/estimation
Adherence to Santam SOP and Claims Management Framework protocols
Clear understanding of the litigation process after receipt of summons
Ensure fair and timeous settlement of valid claims
Ability to clearly explain legal principles during claim settlement stage
Ability to read and understand case law and its application
Ability to identify suspicious claims and flag for investigation
Ensure the customer (third party) is treated fairly at all times
Handle any complaints and escalations associated with a claim or the claims of your colleagues
Ability to properly manage a high portfolio of claims without attracting complaints Qualifications
Matric
Minimum 2- 4 years’ Insurance Claims experience and liability claims processing
A financial, insurance or legal qualification (an advantage)
