Prasa Engineer X1 Job Description:
JOB TITLE: Engineer X1 (External) SALARY GROUP: 610 LOCATION: Western Cape
DEPARTMENT: Infrastructure – Electrical POST NUMBER : REFERENCE: CMR/HR/REC/22/11/12
MISSION: To provide technical support to the Electrical maintenance functions (Bulk services, High Voltage Equipment (OHTE and Substations). Do condition assessment for
the entire network to ensure Safety and Infrastructure Network Reliability (Electrical). Contract management, project management, implementing maintenance strategies, asset
condition assessments, developing and employing matrix management systems and managing safety in the rail environment. Improve the Electrical department’s performance.
OUTPUTS: Project management, Contract management and documentation, Financial control and reporting, Quality control, Managing NOSA
system, Act 85 safety cases, Maintenance of Infrastructure Maintenance Management System, Asset condition assessments,
Technical investigations, Monitor asset performance, Develop maintenance procedures, Designs and modifications to infrastructure,
Management information. Energy Management, Power Quality and Reliability. Design a condition monitoring system model for the
OHTE and Substation assets.
Budgeting for CIP and OPEX
Minimize delays and cancellations
Prevent Pantograph hook ups and other faults
Compliance and improve NOSA 4 star and SMS
RSR Compliance in terms of Act 16 (SANs 3000)
Carry out condition monitoring using the IM2000 and computerised programme
Measure the asset condition within defined targets/limits
Develop a list of all defects identified and report to management
Indicate any defects requiring immediate attention for safety reasons
Incident Investigations
Provide or review Detailed Operating Procedures for the works in the department
Provide a suitable protection system for the entire network
Provide adequate settings for protection of all substations and transmission and cables

Minimum Requirements:

• 4-5 years’ experience in OHTE and 3 kV DC
