DESIGNATION: CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER (CFO)
GROUP: FINANCE
DEPARTMNENT: FINANCE
REPORTING TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Primary Function:
The CFO is required to lead the development of the financial strategy that will enable City Power to meet its financial
targets. To direct, safeguard and monitor the financial health, thus ensuring the financial sustainability of the
organisation. To strengthen the governance, risk, and compliance environment for City Power. Ensure the effective
management of critical stakeholders such as the Auditor General (AG) and Municipal Public Accounts Committee
(MPAC). The CFO oversees Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, SCM, Fleet, Warehouse, Revenue
Management, and Organisational Performance Monitoring Evaluation and Reporting (PMER) functions of the
organisation.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
• Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Accounting
Work Experience:
• Fifteen years of relevant experience in the public sector, of which seven years must be at the senior
management level, and five years in the finance and auditing discipline
• Have proven successful institutional transformation within the public or private sector
• Experience working in an environment that is regulated by the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)/
Municipal Financial Management Act (MFMA)
• Experience working in the electricity generation, transmission, or distribution sector will be an added
advantage

Statutory Professional Body Registration Mandatory Requirements
• Registered CA (SA) with SAICA (South African Institute of Chartered Accountants)
• Registered Government Auditor (RAG) with SAIGA (South African Institute of Government Auditors)
